6PPD

6PPD (N-(1,3-Dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine) is a highly effective antioxidant and antiozonant used in rubber compounds to protect against degradation caused by ozone, oxygen, heat, fatigue, and dynamic stress. It is one of the most widely used protective additives in the tire and rubber industries due to its exceptional ability to prevent cracking and premature aging of rubber products exposed to demanding environmental conditions. 6PPD is extensively used in the manufacture of tires, conveyor belts, hoses, seals, gaskets, automotive rubber components, cable insulation, and other technical rubber goods. As an active antiozonant, it migrates to the surface of vulcanized rubber, where it reacts with ozone and other oxidative agents before they can damage the polymer structure. This mechanism significantly extends product service life and maintains critical mechanical properties during operation. The product is typically supplied as brown to dark purple granules, flakes, or pellets and is compatible with natural rubber and a wide range of synthetic elastomers, including SBR, BR, NBR, and EPDM. 6PPD provides excellent protection against ozone cracking, thermo-oxidative aging, flex fatigue, and environmental degradation while helping maintain elasticity, tensile strength, and durability. Due to its outstanding protective performance and proven effectiveness in demanding applications, 6PPD remains an industry-standard antidegradant for high-performance rubber formulations where long-term reliability, weather resistance, and product longevity are essential.
